Rep. Ilhan Omar addressed rising tensions surrounding immigration and racial issues, saying that several groups—including Muslims, Black Americans, and immigrants—continue to face significant hostility in the United States.
“There is a lot of hate in this country for Muslims, Black people, Black women. Severe hate for immigrants. I fit them all,” Omar said while speaking about her experiences and the broader political climate.
Omar, who was born in Somalia and came to the United States as a refugee, also emphasized her identity and background, adding, “I was born in Somalia. I am proud of that.”
Her remarks come as debates over immigration, national security, and cultural integration remain at the forefront of national discussion. Critics argue that Omar frequently highlights discrimination in ways that divide voters, while supporters say she is calling attention to real challenges facing minority and immigrant communities.
