President Trump Launches Federal Probe Into Alleged California Fraud

President Donald Trump announced that his administration has opened an investigation into alleged large-scale fraud in California, citing concerns that tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer funds may have been misused or improperly spent under the state’s current leadership.

In a public statement, President Trump said the probe will focus on identifying waste, fraud, and abuse across California’s government programs, emphasizing that accountability is long overdue. He sharply criticized Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration, arguing that years of one-party control have created an environment where corruption can thrive without oversight.

Trump framed the investigation as part of his broader push to protect taxpayers and restore fiscal responsibility, noting that similar probes into fraud in other states have already uncovered serious misconduct. He said Californians and Americans nationwide deserve transparency and consequences when public funds are mishandled.

According to the president, the investigation will involve federal authorities reviewing state spending, contracts, and assistance programs to determine the full scope of potential losses. Trump vowed that his administration will “expose it all” and ensure that anyone found responsible is held accountable.
