Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is on what she called a “revenge tour” after former President Donald Trump reportedly discouraged her from running for the U.S. Senate in Georgia.
Speaking during an interview this week, Ocasio-Cortez said Greene had been preparing for a statewide Senate campaign but was told not to run by Trump.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene wanted to run for Senate in Georgia,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “She was gearing up for that statewide race, and Trump told her no… Trump said no.”
Ocasio-Cortez did not provide additional details or specify when the alleged conversation between Greene and Trump took place.
As of now, neither Greene nor Trump’s campaign has commented on the claim. Greene, who represents Georgia’s 14th Congressional District and is a prominent ally of the former president, has not announced any plans to run for statewide office.
The remarks come as tensions between Republican and Democratic lawmakers remain high ahead of the 2026 midterm election cycle.
