TEXAS — Federal immigration authorities have arrested several alleged members of a violent South American theft ring accused of carrying out home invasions across Texas, according to a report from Fox News.
The suspects are believed to be part of the South American Theft Group (SATG) — described by law enforcement officials as an organized network of foreign nationals, primarily from South America, who target affluent neighborhoods in the United States.
Video footage cited by Fox News reportedly shows masked men chasing and assaulting a resident inside his home while pointing firearms at him during one of the incidents.
Investigators say members of the group conduct surveillance on neighborhoods before striking, often identifying wealthy households to burglarize.
According to the report, many of the suspects are in the United States illegally, and four individuals have been federally indicted in connection with the crimes.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that agents have taken several suspects into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the group’s activities.
Authorities say the South American Theft Group has been linked to a broader pattern of coordinated burglaries and home invasions across multiple U.S. states.
