The individual at the center of a recent controversy at Gold’s Gym Beverly Center in Los Angeles has spoken publicly after a viral video showed a woman alleging that a man followed her into the women’s locker room.
Alexis Black, who identifies as a transgender woman, told reporters that being trans is “normal,” adding that “there are 10 species of animals that do it.”
Black confirmed that he still has male genitalia but said he is “entitled to the women’s locker room” because he is registered as a female member with the gym.
“I’m registered as a female with the gym,” Black said. “But about the bathroom, am I entitled to it? I know that I’m a woman.”
The incident gained attention after musician Tish Hyman posted on social media that she was followed into the women’s locker room by a man and later had her gym membership terminated after confronting staff about the situation.
Gold’s Gym Beverly Center recently became part of EoS Fitness, which has not publicly commented on the specific incident.
Los Angeles police confirmed they responded to a call at the location but did not provide further details, citing privacy and ongoing review of the situation.
